CREMATION SERVICES

Hoffen Funeral Home Cremation Services

If your family has chosen cremation, we offer affordable services that help celebrate the life of your loved one while giving you several options for a public gathering, and a final resting place.

Traditional Funeral Service followed by Cremation

Many families find meaning and beauty in a traditional funeral service. With a traditional service combined with cremation, you can still choose to have a final viewing, visitation or wake, and a funeral service. However instead of in-ground burial, the funeral will be followed by cremation. Depending on your wishes, the cremated remains may be either returned to your family for storage in an urn, scattered, or interred in a columbarium. This option will include fees for the funeral services as well as the fees associated with the cremation itself.

Memorial Service

The funeral service can be held in a church or any other venue the family chooses.  We work with our families to design a service that honors their loved one with stories, music, or scripture.  We also have life celebrants that lead services where clergy may not be chosen. Our celebrants are trained in creating experiences that help start the healing process.

Graveside Service

A graveside or committal service is typically held immediately following the funeral service but it can also be a small intimate gathering of those closest to you.

PERMANENT MEMORIALIZATION

Keeping an Urn at Home

This is a common choice and families can select the perfect urn for their loved one.

Placing the Urn in a Columbarium (aka, a “niche”)

Many families find comfort in having a final resting place that they can visit.

Burying the Urn

Similar to a casket, the in-ground burial of the urn allows for a final resting place

Scattering the ashes

Some families find comfort scattering the cremated remains in a place that was special to their loved one.

Cremation Pricing

Direct Cremation without Ceremony - $1,295

The required coroner's permit to cremate is an additional $100.00 (Illinois deaths only), certified copies of the death certificate are additional and vary with the distrcit in which the person passes away.  This fee is not marked up by the funeral home.

WHY IS YOUR PRICE SO MUCH LOWER THAN YOUR COMPETITORS?

We realize this question comes up a lot.  Why does the other funeral home in town charge nearly 3 times as much for a direct cremation?  Why on earth do people pay that much?  We don't have an answer to that, but we can tell you why we charge a fair and reasonable price.

  1. It all comes down to cost control and business structure.  We have worked very hard to keep our business costs efficient so that we can pass the savings on to you.
  2. We don't have a large fleet of ultra-expensive cars and SUV's that are only used occasionally.  We have only what we need to provide quality services. This saves us on car payments, fuel, insurance and maintenance.
  3. We don't have a large staff that requires a large payroll.  We have staffed our funeral home with two licensed funeral directors, one of whom is the owner.  Each works full time and we have a small support staff who work part time. The owner, not a paid receptionist, answers the phone 24/7.
  4. We only have one location, rather than multiple locations that require mortgage payments, insurance and constant upkeep.
  5. Charging affordable, fair prices is paramount to providing services with dignity and respect.
