Vivian G. Vagen
Vivian G. Vagen of Shrewsbury passed away on Friday, October 31, 2008 at her home. She had attained the age of 90 years, 9 months and 20 days.
Born in East St. Louis on January 11, 1918, she was the daughter of John and Frieda (Wilhelm) DeFosset. She married Louis V. Vagen on November 28, 1946 in East St. Louis and he preceded her in death.
Mrs. Vagen was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Shrewsbury.
Preceding her in death besides her parents and her husband, Louis were one daughter, Margaret Vagen; one sister, Lucille DeFosset; two brothers, Vernon DeFosset and Cyril 'Micky' (JoAnn) DeFosset.
Left surviving her passing are her children, Donald (Donna) Vagen, Carol Vagen, James (Ann) Vagen, Kathleen Elliott of St. Louis, Joseph (Anita) Vagen of Union, Missouri and Robert (Robin) Vagen of St. Louis; one sister-in-law Helen DeFosset of Belleville; seven grandchildren, Christine Miller, Jacob and Philip Elliott, Sarah (Ryan) Whitaker, Molly and Olivia Vagen and Samuel Vagen, three great-grandchildren, Brian Miller, Gracie and Noah Whitaker, nieces, nephews and friends.
Mrs. Vagen donated her body to Washington University School of Medicine.
Friends may call on Wednesday, November 5, 2008 from 9:00 A.M, to 10:00 A.M. at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Shrewsbury. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Louis Childrens Hospital.
A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday immediately following the visitation.
