Shirley Irene Margaret Eckert

Shirley Irene Margaret Eckert of Millstadt entered eternal rest on Monday, January 25, 2010 at the Rosewood Care Center in Swansea having attained the age of 80 years and 14 days.
Born in Marissa, Illinois on January 11, 1930, she was the daughter of Henry J. and Emma (Sinn) Vollmer. She married Lester G. Eckert on October 12, 1947 at Zion United Church of Christ in Millstadt and to this union two children were born.

Mrs. Eckert was a bank teller at the First National Bank of Millstadt for 30 years. She was a member of Zion Evangelical Church in Millstadt, the Womens Guild of Zion Church and a member of various bowling teams.
She was preceded in death by her parents.

Left to mourn her passing are her husband, Lester G. Eckert of Millstadt; her children, Steven (Linda) Eckert of Onalaska, Texas and Karen Eckert of St. Louis; her brother, Albert Vollmer of Millstadt; her sisters, Arline Boehm of Waterloo and Judy Jacobs of St. Louis; her grandchildren, Matthew (Janet) Eckert of Houston, Texas and Travis Eckert of Kingwood, Texas; her aunts, Viola Sinn and Irene Hoff, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Friends may call on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the Creason Funeral Home in Millstadt and on Thursday, January 28, 2010 from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. at Zion Evangelical Church in Millstadt. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois, Zion Evangelical Church, the Wounded Warrior Project or the donors choice.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 28, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at Zion Evangelical Church in Millstadt with Rev. Darrell Weber officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Evergreen Cemetery in Millstadt.
