Roger D. Bauer

February 23, 1942 — February 14, 2024

Roger D. Bauer, 81, of Evansville, IL, passed away on February 14, 2024, at his home. He was born on February 23, 1942, to the late Henry Sr. and Onetia Bauer. He married Linda S. Bauer on June 3, 1995, in Chester, IL and she precedes him in death.

Roger was a proud Vietnam Veteran of the United States Army. In 1974, Roger met the love of his life, Linda. Their love for one another was unconditional. Where one was, the other wasn’t far behind. Roger retired from Certified Sales in St. Louis, Missouri after 40 plus years of service.

Roger would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. To know him, was to love him. He was one of a kind and had a heart of gold. He lived life to the fullest.

Roger enjoyed staying busy and was always on the go. He loved spending time with family and friends, going out to eat, bird watching, shopping, and trying his luck at the slot machines and blackjack tables. He took many trips to the casinos in Tunica, Mississippi with the last one being this past year. He also loved to lounge and nap in his recliner with his fur baby, Peppe.

Left to cherish his memory are his three children: Brian (Tammy) Bauer of Sparta, IL, Chris (David) Dunmyer of Elkville, IL, Michelle Schuessler (Chad Roscow) of Sparta, IL; his 10 grandchildren: Hillary (Ryne) Ellett, Ava Bauer, Dylan (Haley) Dunmyer, Conner (Wesley) Ramsey, Heather (Walter) Smith, Shae Schuessler (Mike Kennedy), Stephani Ray (Zachary Clevenger), Courtney Ray, Dilyn Ray and Aleigha Ray; 13 wonderful great-grandchildren, his best friend of 65 plus years, AlRay Zipfel and his fur baby, Peppe.

Roger was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Linda S. Bauer, his son, Richard Ray, his parents Henry Bauer, Sr. and Onetia Bauer, his brothers: Delmar Bauer, Roy Bauer, and Henry Bauer, Jr., and his great-grandson Cayden Flowers.

He will be missed immensely by many. His memory on this earth will forever be cherished.

It was his wish to be cremated.
