Rogelio "Gordo" Estrada-Lopez

August 2, 1974 — September 19, 2020

Rogelio “Gordo” Estrada-Lopez, 46 of Millstadt, Illinois passed away on Saturday September 19, 2020. Born on August 2, 1974 in Mexico, he was the son of Jose T. Estrada-Huizar and Victoria Lopez-Ortiz and they precede him in death. Gordo was also preceded in death by his brother, German Gutierrez.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of seventeen years, Maria Gonzalez of Millstadt, Illinois whom he married on August 22, 2003 in Fairmont City, Illinois. Gordo is also survived by his cherished children; Brian (Abby) Estrada of Elkmont, Alabama, Alan Estrada, and Bridget Estrada, both of Millstadt, Illinois and Wendy Estrada of Bakersfield, California. His loving siblings: Mauricio (Rosa Becerra) Estrada-Lopez of Belleville, Illinois, Norma (Rosalino) Perez of Pomona, California, Guillermo (Leticia) Lopez, Raul Lopez, George Lopez and Maria Esther-Lopez all of Guadalajara, Mexico in addition to many nieces, nephews, extended family and beloved friends.

Gordo was a beloved member of Millstadt and the surrounding communities. He was the former owner of Margaritas Restaurant in Millstadt and had his own construction business. Gordo was a very fun-loving, happy person who loved to joke around. One of his favorite jokes was to act as if he were a Chippendale’s dancer-it was always bound to encourage laughter from anyone nearby. Gordo was also a big fan of soccer, especially the University of Guadalajara team. He could often be found lounging in his home watching a soccer game from just about anywhere in the world. Gordo was an advocate of gun safety and had an aversion to guns and gun violence-this was very important to him. Gordo was also very free from the pressures of time. He never wore a watch because he wanted to always be available to anyone who needed him without having to rush away due to the constraints of the clock. In his free time, Gordo enjoyed attending bailes-a Mexican type of concert/dance dressed in his favorite crocodile boots that he loved to wear. Most of all, he loved spending time with his friends and family and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
