Robert William Speichinger of Millstadt, Illinois entered eternal rest on Friday, October 10, 2014 at Oak Hill Nursing Home in Waterloo, Illinois having attained the age of 87 years, 2 months and 7 days.
Born on August 3, 1927 in Millstadt, Illinois, he was the son of Mathias and Cecelia Speichinger, nee Jacobi. He was united in marriage to Ruth Kreher on November 20, 1952 in Paderborn, Illinois and she survives his passing.
Bob was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Millstadt, Illinois, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7980 of Millstadt, the Knights of Columbus, was a meat packer with Hunter Packing Company, was employed at Foster Forbes and a veteran of the United States Army having served in the Korean War.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his son-in-law, Wayne Lanter; two brothers, Roy Speichinger and William Speichinger; his father and mother-in-law, Edward and Mathilda, Nee Maurer, Kreher; brothers and sisters-in-law, Arthur and Cecilia Schaefer, John L. Mueth, Fred and Ethel Voegele, Edmund Eckart and Bert Kreher.

Surviving are his wife, Ruth Speichinger of Millstadt, Illinois; his children, Patty (Al) Schilling of Belleville, Illinois, Karen (Dale) Vasquez of Lenzburg, Illinois and Mel (Julie) Speichinger of Millstadt, Illinois; his sisters, Arlene (Anthony) Neff of Smithton, Illinois and Marilyn (Orville) Haudrich of Millstadt, Illinois; his brother, Leo (Alice) Speichinger of Fairview Heights, Illinois; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Marie Mueth of Millstadt, Illinois, Clyde (Anna Mae) Kreher, Esther Eckart, Ethel Mae Kreher, all of Hecker, Illinois, Joe (Evelyn) Kreher of Freeburg, Illinois and Vic (Stella) Mueth of Waterloo, Illinois; his grandchildren, Kaitlin Speichinger, Andrew Vasquez and Kellie Speichinger; his step-grandchildren, Kirk (Jennifer) Schilling and Kory (Tara) Schilling; his step-great-grandhchildren, Rebecca Williams, Payton Schilling and Preston Schilling, nieces, nephews and many friends.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Oak Hill Nursing Home Alzheimers Unit for the execellent care Robert received.

Memorials may be made to St. James Catholic Church, Oak Hill Nursing Home Activity Fund or Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be received at the funeral home.

Friends may call on Sunday, October 12, 2014 from 3:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. and on Monday, October 13,2 014 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at the Creason Funeral Home in Millstadt, Illinois. A prayer service will be held on Sunday at 3:00 P.M. The Knights of Columbus will conduct a walk through on Sunday at 6:00 P.M. Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7980 will conduct a walk through at 6:30 P.M. on Sunday.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, October 13, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. at St. James Catholic Church in Millstadt, Illinois with Monsignor Marvin Volk officiating. Interment will follow in Mount Evergreen Cemetery in Millstadt, Illinois with military honors accorded at the graveside.
