Robert Daniel Schlattweiler
Robert Daniel Schlattweiler, 88, of Millstadt, Illinois entered eternal rest on Saturday, January 28, 2012 at his home surrounded by his family.
Born on June 28, 1923, in East Saint Louis, Illinois, he was the son of Harry Adam and Elizabeth Bridget, nee Bresnaham, Schlattweiler. He was united in marriage to Betty June Morgan on October 19, 1949, at St. Phillips Catholic Church in East St. Louis, Illinois.
Robert spent 20 years as a Sales Manager for Yellow Freight. He also served in the European Theater of Operations in World War II.
Preceding him in death were her parents, one son, Robert Jr. Who died in infancy; a sister, Dorothy Strayhorn; brother and sister-in-laws, George Sturm, Jim and Nan Hull, David Morgan, and Col. William Pershall.
Surviving are his children, Joyce (John) Linnemann, Millstadt, Illinois., Ed Schlattweiler, of Millstadt, Illinois., Jan (Ron) Courtney, Millstadt, Illinois., Karen (Dean) Erpenbach, Columbia, Illinois.; grandchildren, Todd (Lisa Forsberg) Courtney, New York, New York, Colleen (Rich) Harrington, West Frankfort, Illinois., Elizabeth (Nate) Windeknecht, St. Louis, Missouri. Julie (Dave Deaton) Courtney, Millstadt, Illlinois, Robert Courtney, Atlanta, Georgia, Sara (Todd) Dickerson, Red Oak, Texas, Morgan (Christie) Schlattweiler, Bellevue, Nebraska, Danielle Schlattweiler, Heavener, Oklahoma, Luke Llinnemann, Millstadt, Illinois, Emily (Jamin) White, Millstadt, Illinois, Hannah Erpenbach, Columbia, Illinois, and Hayden Erpenbach, Columbia, Illinois; great-grandchildren, Austin, Landen, Caden, Taylor, Faith, Paul, Zackary, Summer, Kale, and Dylan; brothers, Harold (Rita) Schlattweiler, Belleville, Illinois, and Bernard (Beverly) Schlattweiler, Apache Junction, Arizona; a sister Rose Mary Sturm, OFallon, Illinois; brother-in-law, Lee Strayhorn, OFallon, Illinois; sisters-in-law, Dolores Morgan, Phoenix, Arizona, and Doris Pershall, New Bern, North Carolina; nieces, nephews and many friends including his military buddies.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois, and St. James Church.and will be received by the funeral home at the church
At Roberts request his body was donated to the St. Louis university School of Medicine.
VISITATION: will be from 9:00 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, February 4, 2012, at the St. James Roman Catholic Church, Millstadt, Illinois.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 A.M. at the church with Father Marvin Volk officiating.
The Creason Funeral Home in Millstadt, Illinois is in charge of arrangements.
