Rita P. Speichinger

Rita P. Speichinger, nee Hill, 71, of Millstadt, IL, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loving family on Friday November 25, 2022. Rita was born on October 18, 1951, in St. Louis, MO to James and Bonnie Hill, nee VanDriest and they precede her in death. Rita was also preceded in death by her brother Larry Hill and her brother-in-law Randy Meyer.

Rita spent her early childhood years in Ohio before the family moved to Centreville, where she grew up. As a young adult, she moved to Millstadt where she would happily live for the remainder of her life. Rita was well-known and well-loved in town for her kindness and outgoing personality that resulted in countless friendships over the years. Rita’s working life was wonderfully diverse as she explored her many talents and interests. She was best known for working at Reinhardt’s Restaurant and Lounge as a server and manager. Most recently, Rita worked as a server/prep at The Diner in Sauget, where she continued to make dear friends.

In her spare time, Rita loved to cook, bake, go shopping and collect treasures. Rita had a heart of gold and was a beloved caretaker to all who needed her. Most of all, she cherished family gatherings where she could spend time with her loved ones. Rita will be remembered as the best mother, grandmother, sister, daughter and friend anyone could have and her family will terribly miss her.

Left to cherish her memory are her sons James P. (Toni) Casson, and Joel P. Casson, her siblings Brenda Harrison, Marcia (John) Foster, James Hill and Shelia (Joe) Meyer, her grandchildren Meagan (Dustin) Casson and Madison Casson, her great-granddaughter Avery Casson and one on the way, her stepmother Diana Hill, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and countless beloved friends.

Rita’s wishes were that she be cremated, and no services are planned at this time.
