Rita Mary Monte of Belleville, Illinois passed away on Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at Memorial Hospital in Belleville, Illinois, having attained the age of 87 years, 6 months and 3 days.
Born on October 30, 1928 in East St. Louis, Illinois, she was the daughter of Wendel Gentry and Ramona Brinson, nee Faltus. She was united in marriage to John H. Monte, Sr. On February 12, 1949 in Pocahontas, Arkansas and he preceded her in death on January 19, 2002.
She was a member of St. Teresa's Catholic Church in Belleville, Illinois and her favorite pasttimes were gardening and playing the organ.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, John H. Monte, Sr.; her son, John H. Monte, Jr., her sister, Carolyn Taylor, and her brother Charles Brinson.
Surviving are her children, Sharon Lee Raab of O'Fallon, Illinois, Sondra Lynn (Donald) Otten of Chester, Illinois and Richard M. (Judy) Monte of Belleville, Illinois; her daughter-in-law, Kathy Monte of Belleville, Illinois; her sisters, Ann Elizabeth (Albert) Dolansky of Belleville, Illinois and Janet Dorothy Sandbrink of Maryville, Illinois; her grandchildren, Rebecca (Eric) Bokern of Belleville, Illinois, Jeffrey Monte, Nicholas Monte, Andrea Monte, Jeremy Monte, Timothy Monte, Bryan Monte of Godfrey, Illinois and Robert Monte of Nashville, Tennessee; her great-grandchildren, Sade Bokern and Elizabeth Monte, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
Funeral arrangements are pending at the Creason Funeral Home in Millstadt, Illinois.
