Richard E. Bonn

Richard E. Bonn, 71, of Millstadt, IL, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday December 9, 2024. Richard was born on June 19, 1953, in Belleville, IL to Harold and Shirley (Bayer) Bonn and his parents precede him in death.

Richard spent his working years with the Monsanto Company until his retirement. Music was a large part of his life and in his early years he played harmonica and sang with his brother, Paul in a band. He also enjoyed dancing to good music with his friends.

Richard loved spending time in the great outdoors. He especially enjoyed hunting and fishing and the adventures of springtime mushroom hunting. He had a great personality and loved to tell a good joke. Family was central to his life, and he cherished all the good times he was able to spend with his loved ones.

Left to cherish his memory is his longtime partner in life, Gail Setzer and her children and grandchildren, his former wife, Holly Kelly, his son, Salem (Kim Reineke) Bonn, his daughter, Sasha (Brett) Hanvey; his siblings: Paul (Kathy) Bonn, Jeff Bonn and Julie (Stacy) Wind; his grandchildren: Zane Bonn, Kaya Bonn, Bennett Hanvey, David Hanvey and Hunter Hanvey; his nieces and nephews: Derek Bonn, niece and goddaughter, Emily Yost, Lindsey Wind, Mia Wind and Colin Wind in addition to his extended family and many beloved friends.

Visitation will be held on Saturday December 21, 2024, from 11:00am-1:00pm at Hoffen Funeral Home, 220 W. Washington St., Millstadt, IL. Funeral services will follow at 1:00pm with Rev. Larry Ridenour, officiating. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Belleville Area Humane Society, 1301 S. 11th St., Belleville, IL 62226 and will be collected at the funeral home.
