Paul David Melton

Paul David Melton of Belleville, Illinois passed away on Sunday, June 3, 2018 at Four Fountains Nursing Home in Belleville, Illinois, having attained the age of 70 years, 5 months and 18 days and surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Charleston, Missouri on December 15, 1947, he was the son of Paul Ray and Beulah Mae Melton, nee Hargan.

David attended Belleville West High School and received his GED while serving in the military. He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy having served in the Vietnam War. Throughout his career he was a jack of all trades in the construction business. Since 2000, he worked for Melton Construction which he enjoyed being a mentor to his crew.

He enjoyed drinking a nice cold beverage, playing darts and pool with his buddies, watching movies and reading.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his brothers, Dolan (Kathleen) Melton and Norman Melton and his sister-in-law, Jennie Melton.

Surviving are his daughter, Karen; his sisters, Barbara (Bill) Lepine of Nashua, New Hampshire, Mary (Farrell) Caesar of Trenton, Illinois, Rita (Mary Zellerman) Pannier and Tonya Dehn, both of Belleville, Illinois; his brothers, Clarence Melton of Boston, Massachusetts, Kenneth (Jane) Melton of Lebanon, Illinois, Otis (Mary Ann) Melton of Las Cruces, New Mexico, Richard Melton of New Orleans, Louisiana and Joseph (Lisa) Melton of Belleville, Illinois, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and many friends.

The family would like to thank Four Fountains Nursing Home and Heartland Hospice for their excellent care of David. They further suggest that memorials be given to Heartland Hospice in Davids name.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, June 11, 2018 at 9:30 A.M. at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, Missouri with full military honors to be accorded. Family and friends will gather at Sylvan Springs Park in St. Louis, Missouri at 9:00 A.M. to proceed in procession to the cemetery.
