Myra L. Sims, nee Foulke, 88 of Millstadt, Illinois passed away at her home, surrounded by her loving family, on Thursday September 16, 2021. Myra was born on February 21, 1933 in Baltimore, Maryland to Franklin and Leuemma Foulke, nee Crampton and they precede her in death. Myra was also preceded in death by her sisters; Betty Zimbler and Virginia Richmond.

Myra attended high school in Sarasota, Florida. She was musically talented, having played the trumpet in Sarasota High School’s marching band. She later graduated from Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville with her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. She then began her career teaching 4th grade for the Cahokia Unit School District 187. She was a dedicated teacher and loved children. In her free time, she was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and watched every game. She enjoyed flower gardening, loved to cook and was known as a very kind and loving person. Myra was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her greatest joy in life was her family.

Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Dana (Vincent) York of Millstadt, IL, her sister, Florence Rye of Sarasota, FL, her grandchildren; Zachary York, Sarah York and Staci York, all of Millstadt, IL and her great-grandchildren; Anastacia Boyer, Aiden Boyer and Jackson Boyer. Myra also leaves behind many extended family members and beloved friends. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Memorial visitation will be held on Saturday September 25, 2021 from 11am-1pm at Hoffen Funeral Home, 220 W. Washington St., Millstadt, IL. Memorial Service will immediately follow at 1pm at the funeral home with Fr. Ken York, officiating.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Cancer Society.

Hoffen Funeral Home in Millstadt, IL is in charge of arrangments.
