Michael P. Sullivan, 70, of Collinsville, IL, passed away at his home on Thursday April 10, 2025. He was born on February 4, 1955, in Naples, Italy to Jerry and Christine (Heideman) Sullivan and his parents precede him in death. He was also preceded in death by his son, Kelly Sullivan and his brother-in-law, John Bruno.

Michael was a U.S. Navy veteran, having proudly served his country during the Vietnam Era. While enlisted, he was an electrician’s mate and was studying nuclear energy to work onboard nuclear submarines. After his military service, Michael returned to the St. Louis area and earned a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering from Washington University. Over the course of his working life, he held positions at the Westinghouse Company, Schultz Door Closers, and at Auffenberg Automotive Group.

Michael was a loving father and devoted much time to serving as a Boy Scout Troop leader when his sons were young. Michael had a passion for all things mechanical, electrical and electronic and he passed down much of his knowledge to his middle son. He was an avid music lover and also enjoyed swimming and scuba diving. Michael’s cats were very important to him, and he enjoyed caring for them. In later years, he loved spending time with his granddaughter, Jewelette. Michael was a long time Catholic and was devout in his faith. Michael loved his family and all the time he was able to spend with them. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Left to cherish his memory are his sons, Shaun Sullivan of Mt. Vernon, IL and Ryan Sullivan of Chicago, IL; his siblings, Karen (Larry) Sullivan-Hook and Tom Sullivan; his granddaughter, Jewelette Sullivan, his dear aunt Joyce (the late Tom) Sullivan; his cousins: Tom, Michael and Anne and his dear friend, Carolyn Ambrozat who was Michael’s devoted caregiver in his later years. The family wishes to express their gratitude for her care.

The family will plan a memorial service at a later date.
