Marlene Thomas

Marlene Thomas, 74, of Sparta, IL, passed away peacefully on Wednesday April 17, 2024, in Sparta. She was born on September 24, 1949, in Coulterville, IL to Franklin and Flossie Thomas (Raney) and her parents precede her in death. She was also preceded in death by her brother Shan Thomas and her sister Flossie Stricker.

Marlene maintained a youthful innocence throughout her life which endeared her to all who knew her. She had a great sense of humor and was a woman of very strong faith in God. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Coulterville. In her spare time, she loved sitting outside and feeding the squirrels. She will be remembered as a loving daughter, sister, aunt, niece and dear friend to many.

Left to cherish her memory are her nieces and nephews: Tracey Kemper, Carrie Buss, Matt Thomas and Cindi Stricker, her sister-in-law Connie Thomas, her great-nephew Thomas (Nicole) Harvey and their children: Vaughn, Fynn and Isara and her aunt Cathie Raney who was her devoted caregiver in addition to her church family and many friends.

The family will hold celebration of life services at a later date.
