Marian D. Mertz

Marian D. Mertz, nee Schuler, 93, of Millstadt, IL passed away at her home, surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday December 15, 2021. She was born on December 28, 1927 in Columbia, IL to Charles and Aleda Schuler, nee Petri and they precede her in death. Marian was also preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, William “Bill” Mertz and her brother, Carl Schuler.

Marian worked alongside her husband, Bill for many years at Mertz Ford in Millstadt as an office manager. She was a member of the Millstadt VFW Post 7980 Ladies Auxiliary and the Columbia Card Club. Marian and Bill had a large social circle and loved spending time with their friends. Marian will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and dear friend to many.

Left to cherish her memory are her sons; Larry (Maria) Mertz of Sugar Grove, IL and Don (Debbie) Mertz of Millstadt, IL and her grandchildren; Madeline Mertz of Keystone, CO, William Mertz of Virginia Beach, VA and Christina Mertz of Westmont, IL; her sister-in-law, Margie Schuler of Columbia, IL, her nieces and nephews; Carl (Candy) Schuler, Jr., Sharon Misplais, John Schuler and extended family.

Visitation will be held on Monday December 20, 2021 from 4:00pm-7:00pm at Hoffen Funeral Home in Millstadt, IL and again on Tuesday December 21, 2021 from 9:00am-10:00am at the funeral home. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00am at the funeral home with Reverend Darrell Weber, officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Evergreen Cemetery in Millstadt, IL.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Millstadt VFW Post 7980, Zion Evangelical Church of Millstadt or the donor’s choice.
