Lorette Burke of Collinsville, Illinois passed away on Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at Rosewood Care Center in Swansea, Illinois having attained the age of 84 years, 8 months and 8 days.

Born in East St. Louis, Illinois on September 4, 1931, she was the daughter of Charles M. and Beatrice Burke, nee Hankins.

Lorette graduated from St. Patricks Grade School in East St. Louis, Illinois, Ladywood School in Indianapolis, Indiana, Southern Seminary Junior College in Buena Vista, Virginia and the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida, where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta Soroity. She was an avid traveler and photographer which took her around the world to all continents. She was a member of the Photographic Society of America, where she was honored with an Associateship, the St. Louis Camera Club, where she served as Vice-President, section chairman and chairman of the Mississippi Valley Salon of Photography. She enjoyed exhibiting, judging and teaching photography. Her photography and articles have appeared in books, magazines, newspapers, as well as gallery showings.

She lived a great life, had a good time, laughed a lot and had many wonderful friends.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her grandmother, Anna Traubel Burke, her brother, Thomas Allen Burke and her sister, Beatrice Ann Burke.

Surviving are many friends.

Memorials may be made to the Collinsville Humane Society.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at 10:30 A.M. at Peace Chapel at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Belleville, Illinois.

The Creason Funeral Home in Millstadt, Illinois is in charge of arrangements.
