Leroy Williams Mathews

Leroy Williams Mathews of Millstadt passed away on Friday, September 4, 2009 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Belleville, having attained the age of 78 years, 7 months and 19 days.
Born in Columbia, Illinois on January 15, 1931, he was the son of Leo and Alida (Eckert) Mathews. He married Rosemary Forbecck on January 26, 1954 at St. James Catholic Church in Millstadt.

Mr. Mathews was a bookbinder with Graham Paper Company, a United States Army veteran of the Korean War, a member of St. James Catholic Church in Millstadt, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post Number 7980 in Millstadt and the American Legion.

Preceding him in death were his parents.
Left to mourn his passing are his wife, Rosemary of Millstadt; his children, Dan Mathews and very special friend, Barbara Brown of Millstadt, Michael Mathews and very special friend, Doreen Downs of Millstadt and Nancy (Jac) Cates of Roodhouse; three brothers, Ralph (Catherine) Mathews of Columbia, Harold (Janice) Mathews of Columbia and Nelson (John) Mathews of Columbia; eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many friends.

Friends may call on Tuesday, September 8, 2009 from 3:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the Creason Funeral Home in Millstadt. Memorials may be made to St. James Catholic Church, St. James Building Fund or St. James School.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home with Father Marvin Volk officiating. All other services will be private.
