Joshua Scott Smith of Marissa, Illinois passed away on Friday, August 26, 2011 near Perryville, Missouri having attained the age of 20 years, 2 months and 13 days.

Born in Chester, Illinois on June 13, 1991, he was the son of Corey S. Smith and Sharon C., nee Adams, Pirkle. He was united in marriage to Ruhanda, nee Barrios, Smith in Herrin, Illinois and she survives.
Joshua was a handyman and a lifetime resident of Southwestern Illinois and of the Baptist faith.

Surviving are his father, Corey S. (Stacy) Smith of Marissa, Illinois; his mother, Sharon (Tyler) Pirkle of St. Genevieve, Missouri; his daugher, Vivinaomi Smith of Herrin, Illinois; his wife, Ruhanda Smith of Herrin, Illinois; his brother, Caleb Ryan Smith of Marissa, Illinois; his step-sister, Ashlie (Kevin) Mikel of Cutler, Illinois; his step-brother, Mark Childers, Jr. of Mt. Carmel, Illinois; his half sister, Megan Lynn Pirkle of St. Genevieve, Missouri; his half brother, Matthew Austin Pirkle of St. Genevieve, Missouri; his maternal grandparents, Jesse Lee Adams and Linda Sue Adams of St. Genevieve, Missouri; his paternal grandparents, Larry and Mary Smith of Percy, Illinois; his maternal aunts and uncles, Laura Adams, Barbara Bravo, Jessica (Joe) Wolk and David Adams, all of St. Genevieve, Missouri; his paternal aunts and uncles, Lisa (John) Ketchum of Nashville, Illinois, Jodi (Troy) Milenbine of Hurst, Illinois and Rachel (Jason) Vasquez of Chester, Illinois; his maternal step-grandparents, Eugene and Linda McCarty of Marissa, Illinois; his maternal step-aunts and uncles, Brad (Missy) McCarty of Marissa, Illinois, Kristy (Ryan) Chiles of New Athens, Illinois and Genia (Mark) Bollmann of Chester, Illinois; many cousins and friends.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. The Creason Funeral Home in Millstadt, Illinois is in charge of arrangements.
