Joann Bird Lewis of Waterloo, Illinois passed away on Friday, May 18, 2012 at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri having reached the age of 78 years, 10 months and 14 days.

Born in Greenville, Tennessee on July 4, 1933, she was the daughter of John A. and May, nee Kelly, Bird. She was united in marriage to Robert Lewis on April 27, 1956 in Greenville, Tennessee and to this union three children were born.

Mrs. Lewis was a librarian in the Trenton Public School District in Trenton, New Jersey and a member of Hope Christian Church in Columbia, Illinois.

Preceding her in death were her parents.
Surviving are her husband, Robert Lewis of Waterloo, Illinois; her children, John R. Lewis of Brandon, Florida, David M. (Robin) Lewis of Chillicothe, Ohio and James M. (Julie) Lewis of Waterloo, Illinois; two brothers, James (Betty) Bird of Houston, Texas and Robert (Eva) Bird of Tusculum, Tennessee; her grandchildren, Lisa (Jose) de Los Santos, Mark Lewis, Lindsey Lewis, Robbie Lewis, Corey Lewis, Matthew Lewis, Sara Lewis, David Lewis and Gabe Lewis; her great-grandchildren, Natalia, Illiana and Bela, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, May 20, 2012 at 4:00 P.M. at Hope Christian Church in Columbia, Illinois.

The Creason Funeral Home in Millstadt, Illinois is in charge of arrangements.
