Joan Lee Duren

June 14, 1937 — April 26, 2023

Joan Lee Duren, nee Vogt, 85, of Red Bud, IL, passed away on Wednesday April 26, 2023, at Mercy Hospital in St. Louis, MO. Joan was born on June 14, 1937, in Centerville, IL to Irvin and Minnie Vogt and they precede her in death. Joan was also preceded in death by her husband Charles David Duren, her father-in-law Rex Duren, her mother-in-law Jessie Duren, her brothers Eugene Vogt and William Vogt and her grandson Brandon Duren.


Joan was passionate about flea markets. She loved to hunt for treasures that she could collect or trade. She also enjoyed collecting all kinds of antiques. Notably, Joan had a sweet fondness for the color pink. Family was at the core of Joan’s life. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and dear friend. Joan loved all those who were in her life and most of all she wanted everyone to enjoy inner peace and happiness. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.


Left to cherish her memory are her children: Randy D. (Lynne) Duren, Sandra (Richard) McCarthy and Billy D. (Chris) Duren, her sisters-in-law Pauline Holliday and Jeannie Vogt, her sister Jan (Jim) Velayas; her grandchildren: Amanda (Richard) Peffer, Frances (Matthew) Bristow, Brett Duren, Cory Duren and Jessica Barrow and her great-grandchildren: Lilly, Richie, Paige, Candace, Kailee, Little Randy and Wyatt in addition to many beloved friends.


Per Joan’s wishes, her body was cremated, and no services are planned at this time.
