Janet D. Curtis

Janet Denise Curtis, nee Beare, 87, of Millstadt, IL passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Sunday July 21, 2024. Janet was born on December 20, 1936, in East St. Louis, IL to Francis and Helen (Harszy) Beare, and her parents precede her in death. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles Curtis, her beloved son, Jeffrey Curtis and her dear brother, Carl (the late Beverly) Beare. 

Janet worked at the Stockyards in East St. Louis in her younger days until she married and had children. Most people will remember her working side by side with her son, Brad, at Curtis Auto Body in Millstadt, until he sold it. Her biggest joy was talking to everyone that came in. She was small but mighty, smart, funny and a little sassy. She loved to read, play solitaire on the computer and talk history and politics. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, aunt and dear friend to many.

Left to cherish her memory are her children: Bradley (Debra) Curtis and Michael (Nancy) Curtis, her grandchildren: Austin Curtis and Melissa (Adam) Duncan, 2 great-grandchildren and her nephews: Randy (Rhonda) Beare and Rodney (Gail) Beare and her beloved dog, Curly Sue in addition to many beloved friends.

Cremation has taken place and services are not planned at this time.
