James C. Halter

James C. Halter of Millstadt, Illinois entered eternal rest on Monday, September 27, 2010 in Albuquerque, New Mexico following injuries sustained in a automobile accident. He had attained the age of 70 years, 11 months and 6 days.

Born in Huron, South Dakota on October 21, 1939, he was the son of Frank Lee and Helen Amy (Hackler) Halter. He married Ursula (Plein) Smith on December 12, 2003 in Waterloo, Illinois and she survives.

Mr. Halter was a an electrical engineer, a 1957 graduate of Three Rivers High School, Three Rivers, Michigan, a veteran of the United States Air Force having attained the rank of Captain, a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7980 of Millstadt, Illinois and an endowment member of the National Rifle Association.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
Surviving are his wife, Ursula Halter of Millstadt, Illinois; his children, Michelle (Stefan) Schneewolf of Berlin, Germany, James Halter of Berlin, Germany, Janine Halter of Berlin, Germany and Sabrina Wagoner of Belleville, Illinois; his step-children, Van Smith of Tucson, Arizona, Mia (Roger) Zimmermann of Ferrin, Illinois and Michelle Smith of Centralia, Illinois; his sister-in-law, Lolita Halter of Libertyville, Illinois; his grandchildren, Kurt Wagoner, Matthew Wagoner, Cheyenne Selmke, Kiono Selmke and Dean Halter; his step-grandchildren, Beth Mayer, Jessica Mayer, Madison Smith, Harrison Smith, Samantha Zimmermann and Katie Zimmermann; three step-great-grandchildren and many friends.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, October 8, 2010 at 11:30 A.M. at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, Missouri with Rev. Scott Niermann officiating. Full military honors will be accorded at the graveside.

The Creason Funeral Home in Millstadt, Illinois is in charge of arrangements.
