James B. Kane

James B. Kane of Millstadt, Illinois entered eternal rest on Monday, December 27, 2010 at Memorial Hospital in Belleville, Illinois having attained the age of 75 years and one day.
Born in Springfield, Illinois on December 26, 1935, he was the son of John Russell and Lorine (Kleisner) Kane. He was united in marriage to Jane Sarkesian on December 10, 1962 in Pinckneyville, Illinois and she survives his passing.
Mr. Kane was a Municipal Finance Consultant having spent his entire career in public finance. He recently retired to pursue travels with his wife and time with his grandchildren. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force having served in the Korean War, a member of St. James Catholic Church in Millstadt, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7980 of Millstadt, the Illinois Municipal League and the Illinois Tax Increment Association and was the former chief financial officer for the City of Springfield. He graduated from Southern Illinois University with a BA degree in Business in 1962 and a Masters Degree in Finance in 1964.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Maxine Comer; his grandson, Daniel Joseph Toenjes; his sister-in-law, Virginia Kane and his brothers-in-law, William P. Martin and Theodore Helmkamp.

Left to mourn his passing are his wife, Jane Kane of Millstadt, Illinois; his children, Lisa Marie (Kevin) Bowman of Millstadt, Illinois, Dana Ann (Larry) Toenjes of Millstadt, Illinois and Michael James (Stacie) Kane of Sunset Hills, Missouri; his brothers, Jack Kane of Kansas City, Missouri and George (Mary) Kane of Houston, Texas; his sisters, Kathleen Martin of Springfield, Illinois and Florence (Herb) Hertenstein of New Baden, Illinois; his sisters-in-law, Aleta Morgan of Belleville, Illinois and Vernelia Helmkamp of Shiloh, Illinois; his grandchildren, Zachary Bowman, Carly Bowman, Stephen Toenjes, Jack Toenjes, Morgan Kane and Carter Kane; nieces, nephews and many friends.

Friends may call on Thursday, December 30, 2010 from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. and on Friday, December 31, 2010 from 9:00 A.M. to 9:45 A.M. at the Creason Funeral Home in Millstadt, Illinois. Memorials may be made to his grandchildrens schools, St. James Catholic School in Millstadt, Illinois, St. Peter Catholic School in Kirkwood, Missouri or Althoff Catholic High School in Belleville, Illinois and will be received at the funeral home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, December 31, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. at St. James Catholic Church in Millstadt with Monsignor Marvin Volk officiating. All other services will be private.
