James A. Guinn, 85 of Madisonville, Kentucky passed away on Saturday December 21, 2019 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born on December 15, 1934 in Hillsboro, Illinois, he was the son of George and Helen Guinn, nee Dolan and they precede him in death. Jim is also preceded in death by his wife Barbara Guinn, his grandson Terry Griener and a granddaughter who died in infancy, Keri Griener.
Left to cherish his memory is his former wife and current finance, Thema Lucille Crews, nee Thacker of Madisonville, Kentucky; his children: Terry (Rachel) Guinn of Oswego, Illinois, Michael Guinn of Foley, Alabama, Debbie (Michael) Dvorak of Aurora, Illinois and Kathleen Griener of Madisonville, Kentucky. His brother, John "Jack" Guinn of Schram City, Illinois, eleven grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, beloved neighbor and special friend, Gina Fugate who was Jim's long-time care giver and his beloved Chihuahua, JC. Jim also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and beloved friends.
Jim retired from the United States Navy after a distinguished career. He then went to work for the US Postal Service and finally retired after many years of service. In his spare time, Jim loved to go bowling and enjoyed listening to country music. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his family and his beloved JC. Jim was a long-term resident of both Aurora, Illinois and Madisonville, Kentucky. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
