Hazel Marie Shelton, nee Blackburn, 89, of Waterloo, born March 8, 1919 in Creal Springs, Illinois, died Saturday, March 15, 2008 at Oak Hill Nursing Home in Waterloo, Illinois.
Mrs. Shelton was a housewife and a member of Villa Hills Assembly Of God Church.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Edward and Angie (Willard) Blackburn, her husband, James A. Shelton, whom she married on February 24, 1940 and died December 1, 1979; her husband, Harold Lance, who died in May, 1981; one son, Basil Shelton, Sr.; one daughter, Ponda Lou Shelton; three brothers, Frank Blackburn, Raymond Blackburn and Donald Blackburn; and four sisters, Helen Dover, Mildred Bradford, Betty Largent and June Blackburn.

She is by four daughters, Dorothy Blackburn of Ft. Pierce, Florida, Shirley (Robert) Shelton of Granite City, Diane ODell and Lela (Pete) Goodman of Waterloo; two sons, Rev. Eugene (Eva) Shelton of Ellington, Missouri and James Lloyd (Mary) Shelton of Belleville; one brother, Lonnie Joe (Donna) Blackburn of Ohio; 36 grandchildren, 61 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
The family requests that memorials be made to Villa Hills Assembly of God Church and will be received at the funeral home.

Friends may call at the Creason Funeral Home, Millstadt from 5:00 to 9:00 P.M. on Sunday, March 16, 2008 and from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, March 18, 2008.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 18, 2008 at 10:00 A.M. at Creason Funeral Home, Millstadt, with Rev. Robert Dobler and Rev. Pete Goodman officiating. Burial will follow in Lakeview Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
