Harrison Eugene Chapman, 80, of Pontoon Beach passed away on Monday, September 1, 2008 at Gateway Regional Medical Center in Granite City.

Born in Fredericktown, Missouri on August 8, 1928, he was the son of Charles and Lovey (King) Chapman. He was united in marriage to JoAnn L. Patton on May 5, 1948 in Fresno, California.

Mr. Chapman was a Korean War Veteran and was the recipient of three Bronze Stars.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, JoAnn; one brother, Melvin Chapman; one sister, Freda Braddy and two brothers-in-law, Elmo Braddy and Bill Osmack.
Left to mourn his passing are his children, Gloria (James) Shanahan, Charlene (Craig) Deeken, Darlene (Jack) Dwyer, Arlene (Clarence Gleghorn) Chapman all of St. Louis, Marlene (Richard) Weber of Fenton and Penny (Kent) Hendel of St. Louis; his dearest companion, Eleanor Rives of Pontoon Beach; two sisters, Retha Osmack and Janice (Jim) Davis; one sister-in-law, Elsa Chapman-Lowery; eleven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 4, 2008 at 11:30 A.M. at Southern Funeral Home, 6322 South Grand Boulevard, St. Louis with interment following at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.

Friends may call at Southern Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 3, 2008 from 3:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. The family has requested that memorials be made to the American Diabetes Foundation and will be received at the funeral home.
