Harold L. Fingerhut of Millstadt passed away on Tuesday, December 23, 2008 at his residence having attained the age of 80 years, 1 month and 25 days.

Born on October 28, 1928 in Whitewater, Missouri, he was the son of Martin and Etta (Irwin) Fingerhut. He married Audrey 'Bonny' Zimmerman on August 29, 1949 and she preceded him in death on December 8, 2000.

Mr. Fingerhut was self-employed at Advanced Door Company and Lakeside Camping.

He was a veteran of the United States Army having served during World War II and the Korean Conflict and was the recipient of the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart for his service with Company C, 38th Infantry Regiment in Korea.

Preceding him in death besides his parents and his wife were a brother, Lawrence and three sisters, Thelma, Florence and Berniece.

Left to mourn his passing are his best friend and companion, Martha Stoeber of Millstadt; his children, Cynthia (Dennis) Cooper of Millstadt, Kenneth (Connie) Fingerhut of Millstadt, Joy (Jay) Kish of Millstadt and Jan (Mark) Paul of Pittsburg, Kansas; his grandchildren, Stacy (Eric) Crabtree of Evansville, Illinois, Denny (Stacey) Cooper of Millstadt, John Cooper of Millstadt, Jennifer Fingerhut of OFallon, Martin Fingerhut of Troy, Jay Jr. Kish of Collinsville, Stephanie (Kevin) Bell of Edwardsville, Matthew (Miranda) Kish of Hecker, Eric (Jennifer) Paul of Loveland, Colorado and Wendy Paul of Ft. Sill, Oklahoma; his great-grandchildren, Ashli, Michaela and Eric Jr. Crabtree, McKenzie and Jacob Cooper, Alyssa, Nathan and Dennis Cooper, Mathew and Addison Kish and Miles Bell.

Friends may call at the Creason Funeral Home on Sunday, December 28, 2008 from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, the Disabled American Veterans or Family Hospice and will be received at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 29, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. at the Creason Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Patton officiating. Interment will follow at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery with full military honors.
