Frieda Caroline Hotz

Frieda Caroline Hotz of Millstadt, Illinois, formerly of Hoyleton, Illinois passed away on Sunday, March 13, 2011 at Red Bud Regional Hospital in Red Bud, Illinois having attained the age of 102 years, 10 months and 25 days.

Born in North Prairie, Hoyleton Township, Washington County, Illinois on April 18, 1908, she was the daughter of Albert and Millie, nee Brink, Krughoff. She was baptized and confirmed at Zion Evangelical Church in Hoyleton by Rev. Max Schroedel. She was united in marriage to Rev. Emil F. Hotz on December 2, 1934 at Zion Evangelical Church in Hoyleton by her uncle, Rev. Gus Brink.

Mrs. Hotz was a member of Zion Evangelical United Church of Christ in Hoyleton, Zion Evangelical Womens Guild and was a volunteer at Hoyleton Childrens Home. Along with her husband, Rev. Emil Hotz, they pastored at St. Johns United Church of Christ in Metropolis, Illinois, St. Johns United Church of Christ in Evansville, Illinois, St. John Evangelical United Church of Christ in Maeystown, Illinois and Friedens United Church of Christ in Marissa, Illinois.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, Rev. Emil Hotz on April 28, 1966 and her sister, Rose Wacker.

Surviving are her son, Frederick (Carol) Hotz of Millstadt, Illinois, her grandchildren, Michael Hotz and fiancee, Cara Carpenter of Chicago, Illinois and Cathy (Chris) Gaby of Millstadt, Illinois; her great-granddaughter, Kelsey Gaby, nieces, nephews and many friends.

Friends may call on Thursday, March 17, 2011 from 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. at Zion Evangelical United Church of Christ in Hoyleton, Illinois. Memorials may be made to Hoyleton Childrens Home or Zion Evangelical United Church of Christ in Hoyleton.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 17, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at the church with Rev. Pamela Smith and Rev. Herbert Schafale officiating. Interment will follow in North Prairie Cemetery. The Creason Funeral Home in Millstadt, Illinois is in charge of arrangements.
