Frederick V. Sumner of Millstadt, Illinois entered eternal rest on Saturday, January 9, 2010 at his home surrounded by his family having attained the age of 77 years, 4 months and 20 days.
Born in Detroit, Michigan on August 19, 1932, he was the son of Fred and Lucille (Lee) Sumner. He was united in marriage to Daphne Harwood on August 15, 1959 in Brookfield, Missouri.
Mr. Sumner was a field underwriter for Travelers Insurance and State Farm Insurance. He was a member and usher at St. James Catholic Church in Millstadt, a member of the Elks Club, a charter member of the Lions Club, a board member of Call for Help, a board member of Millstadt School District, a member of St. Clair County Historical Society, vice-president of the Millstadt Historical Society, vice-president of the Franklin Car Club Midwest Region, a board member of Mississippi Valley Packard Club and a member of the Automobile Collectors Club of the Greater Belleville Area.
Preceding him in death were his parents and a sister, Susan Kennedy.
Left to mourn his passing are his wife, Daphne Sumner of Millstadt; his children, Cynthia (Dennis) Holter of Creve Coeur, Missouri, Brian Sumner of Belleville and Timothy (Lana) Sumner of Springfield, Illinois; his brothers, Frank (Kay) Sumner of Beardstown, Illinois, Rod Sumner of Belleville, Illinois and Noel (Judy) Sumner of Ferguson, Missouri; four grandchildren, Maggie, Max, Dawson and Macy; nieces, nephews and many friends.

Friends may call on Monday, January 11, 2010 from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. and on Tuesday, January 12, 2010 from 9:00 A.M. to 9:30 A.M. at the Creason Funeral Home, Millstadt, Illinois.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. at St. James Catholic Church in Millstadt with Father Marvin Volk officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Evergreen Cemetery in Millstadt.
