Francis E. “Frank” Marks, 76, of Cahokia Heights, IL, passed away at his home on Friday March 21, 2025. Frank was born on August 13, 1948, in St. Louis, MO to Francis O. and Julia R. (Banta) Marks and his parents precede him in death. He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Peggy Joan (Robinson) Marks, his sister Carol Ann (Marks) Amos, his son, Francis M. Marks, his stepson, Kristen Keys and his grandson, Cody McMannis.

Frank had a twenty-year career proudly serving his country in the United States Army, beginning during the Vietnam Era, and retiring at the rank of Master Sergeant. While serving he was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Joint Service Achievement Medal, Army Achievement Medal, 6 Good Conduct Medals, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal as well as several ribbons. After his retirement from military service, he began his career with the Internal Revenue Service where he worked as an agent and instructor until his ultimate retirement.

In his spare time, Frank loved to play the lottery and enjoyed spending time walking his beloved dog, Snickers around the lake near his home. He and Snickers also enjoyed many relaxing car rides. He also loved to entertain by singing little ditties and playing funny plastic instruments. Frank loved spending time with his family most of all, and especially enjoyed watching the television show, Medium with his niece, Julie.

Left to cherish his memory are his children: Tammy (Tom) McMannis, Tina (Don) Sherrill and Scott (Carla) Keys; his brothers, Daniel (Mary) Marks and Thomas (Cindy) Marks; his grandchildren: Ashley Poppe, Courtney Newsome, Joshua Sherrill, Zachary Sherrill and Justin Keys; seven great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends.

Frank will be laid to rest at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery with full military honors on Friday April 18, 2025 at 10:30am.
