Francis 'Gene' Hendley

Francis 'Gene' Hendley of Millstadt, Illinois entered eternal rest on Sunday, September 26, 2010 at Memorial Hospital in Belleville, Illinois having attained the age of 73 years, 6 months and 12 days.

Born on March 14, 1937 in Michigan, he was the son of Nathan and Ollie (Roland) Hendley. He married Onita Deason on February 11, 1980 in Alexander, Louisiana and she survives.

Mr. Hendley was a hospital maintenance manager, a member of the Millstadt Commercial Club and a longtime member of the Cahokia Fire Department.
Preceding him in death besides his parents were his brothers, William Wesley Hendley, Gary Lee Hendley, Junior Paul Hendley and George Hendley and his sister, Velma Lucille Hendley.

Surviving are his wife, Onita Hendley of Millstadt; his son, Clifford Hendley of Fairmont City, Illinois; his step-children, Jimmy (Lindsey) Johnson of California, Diane Johnson of Leesville, Louisiana and Melissa Johnson of Dallas, Texas; his sister, Betty Arnold of Versailles, Missouri; his brother, Thomas (Sandra) Hendley of Meeker, Oklahoma; five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, his 'adopted children' Teresa, Carrie, Andy, Lyle and Linda Haas and many friends.

Friends may call on Wednesday, September 29, 2010 from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. at the Creason Funeral Home in Millstadt. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society and will be received at the funeral home.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, September 29, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Terry Delaney officiating.
