Evelyn Klopmeyer
Evelyn Klopmeyer of Millstadt, passed away on Tuesday, June 3, 2008 at St. Elizabeths Hospital in Belleville at the age of 85 years.
Born in Belleville on March 14, 1923, she was the daughter of Curt and Elizabeth (Fournie) Wiley. She married William Klopmeyer on July 18, 1942 at St. Teresa Rectory in Belleville and he preceded her in death on March 7, 1988.
Mrs. Klopmeyer was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Millstadt, St. James Sodality, Metro East Gold Star Mothers of which she was the president, American Legion Auxiliary Post #502, VFW Auxiliary Post #7980 and the Millstadt Senior Center.
Preceding her in death besides her parents and her husband, William, was a son, James Klopmeyer, who died December 19, 1967 in Vietnam; a sister, Mildred Wiley and a sister-in-law, Virginia Naumann.
Left to mourn her passing are her children, Thomas (Gail) Klopmeyer of Freeburg, Kenneth (Marla) Klopmeyer of Troy, William (Kim) Klopmeyer of Belleville, Beth Elese (Charles) Schmalzried of Carrollton, Texas, Rebecca Pearson and Joel Joergensen of Swansea and Melissa (Mike) Esker of Millstadt; a brother, Curt (Jeann) Wiley; grandchildren, Tina (Rick) Diener, Stephanie (Mike) Morris, Nicole (Greg) Schmidt, Amanda Klopmeyer, Andre Klopmeyer, Jim Klopmeyer, Matt Klopmeyer and fianc, Jamie, Jamie and Natalie Klopmeyer, Eric (Jenny) Schmalzried, Julie (Thomas) Barrett, Tony (Magen) Pearson and Luke (Renee) Adkins; eleven great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many friends.
A funeral mass will be held on Friday, June 6, 2008 at 10:00 A.M. at St. James Catholic Church in Millstadt with Father Marvin Volk officiating. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery.
Friends may call on Thursday, June 5, 2008 from 3:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Creason Funeral Home, Millstadt. A prayer service will be held at 4:00 P.M.
Memorials may be made to the Millstadt Senior Center or St. James Catholic Church.
