Elvadean Estelle Dowling, 86, of St. Louis passed away on Wednesday, September 17, 2008 at St. Anthonys Hospital in St. Louis.

Born on July 6, 1922 in St. Louis, she was the daughter of Arthur and Bertha (Norris) Haaser. She married Leo Francis Dowling on May 9, 1942 in St. Louis.

Mrs. Dowling was a sales associate with Famous Barr and a member of SCMAC.

Preceding her in death were her parents and two sisters, Laverne Brooks and Margie Janson.

Surviving her passing are her husband, Leo F. Dowling; her children, Leo Dowling, Jr. of St. Louis and Patricia Vinyard of Kannapolis, North Carolina; four grandchildren, Derek Leftridge of St. Louis, Kristina Kamer of North Carolina, Roy and Cody Vinyard of North Carolina; three great-grandchildren, Derek Leftridge II, Kyle Schuppan and Aidan Vinyard; one brother-in-law, sisters-in-law; aunt, nieces, nephews and many friends.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 22, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Stephen Protomartyr Catholic Church with Rev. Ron Hopmeir officiating. Interment will be in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.

Friends may call on Monday, September 22, 2008 from 9:30 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. at the church. Memorials may be made to St. Stephen Protomartyr Catholic Church. Southern Funeral Home, 6322 South Grand is in charge of arrangements.
