Dorothy 'Dottie' Marie Wessel, nee Wagner, 82 years, 2 months, and 5 days, of Millstadt, Illinois, died Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at Columbia Nursing and Rehabilitation, Columbia, Illinois. Dottie was born on October 6, 1931, in Red Bud, Illinois, the daughter of Leroy and Margaret, nee Madden, Wagner.
Mrs. Wessel was a retired retail clerk and homemaker, a former member of the St. James Sodality, and a member of St. James Catholic Church in Millstadt, Illinois.

She was preceded in death by her parents Leroy and Margaret, nee Madden, Wagner; her husband, Maurice Wessel, whom she married on November 25, 1948, and who died October. 2, 2010; a brother, Robert Wagner; and a grandson, David Wessel.

Surviving are her children, Karen Corwin, of Ellisville, Missouri., Glen (Gwen) Wessel, of Terre Haute, Indiana, and Christopher (Trisha) Wessel), of Millstadt, Illinois; a sister, Joann (Carl) Oller, of Belleville, Illinois; brothers, Donald Wagner of Belleville, Illinois., and Ronald Wagner of Marion, Illinois; grandchildren, Tyler Trenary, of Rock Hill, Missouri. Nathan Campbell of Ballwin, Missouri. Jordan (Rachel Roseberry) Corwin of South Bend, Indiana, Danny (Amy) Wessel and Craig Wessel of St. Louis, Missouri. Drake Wessel, Dallas Wessel, Courtney Orange, Mercedes Orange, and Doug Orange all of Millstadt, Il; great-grandchildren, James Tyler Trenary and Paige Marie Trenary of Rock Hill, Missouri. Makailyn Danielle Summers of Troy, Illinois. and Noah Schlaefer and Charly Wessel both of St. Louis, Missouri.; nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Memorials may be made to Lymphoma Society and will be received at the funeral home.

Visitation: Friends may call from 3-8 P.M. Friday, December. 13, 2013 and 9-9:45 A.M. Saturday, December. 14, 2013, at the Creason Funeral Home in Millstadt, Illinois.

Funeral: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 A. M. Saturday, December. 14, 2013, at St. James Catholic Church, Millstadt, Ill. with Monsignor Marvin Volk officiating. Interment will follow in Green Mount Catholic Cemetery in Belleville, Illinois.
