Dorothy Jean Hertel

Dorothy Jean Hertel of Smithton, Illinois, formerly of Millstadt, Illinois entered eternal rest on Saturday, January 29, 2011 at Oak Hill Nursing Home in Waterloo, Illinois having attained the age of 83 years, 7 months and 8 days.

Born in St. Clair County, Illinois on June 21, 1917, she was the daughter of William and Hilda, nee Stitzel, Koldehoff. She married Kenneth Hertel in Millstadt, Illinois and he preceded her in death.

Mrs. Hertel was a beautician and a member of St. James Catholic Church in Millstadt.

Preceding her in death besides her husband, Kenneth, were her parents and a brother-in-law, Glen Valentine.

Left to mourn her passing are her children, Myra (Gary) Knoblauch of Saugatuck, Michigan and Kareen (Ron) Broadfoot of Smithton, Illinois; her brother, Herman (Esther) Koldehoff of Millstadt, Illinois; her sister, Barbara Valentine of Freeburg, Illinois; her grandchildren, Stephanie (Jason) Luja, Amy (Jim) Grote, Austin (Anna) Broadfoot, Sara (Dave) Martinez and Cody Broadfoot; her great-grandchildren, Justine, Christian, Colton, Jacob, Logan, Ethan, Lane, Landon, Garrett and Millyanna, nieces, nephews and many friends.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be received at the funeral home.

All services will be private. The Creason Funeral Home in Millstadt, Illinois is in charge of arrangements.
