Dorothy Jean Edmondson

Dorothy Jean Edmondson, nee Tauchert, age 81 of Millstadt, died March 15, 2022 at Garden Place of Millstadt.

Dorothy grew up in Cahokia, the oldest of three children to Gilbert and Viola, nee Loewe, Tauchert. She married her high school sweetheart Kenneth. He soon joined the Army, and they were transferred to Frankfurt, Germany. After a few relocations, they moved back to Cahokia, and later Festus, before retiring to Olive Branch, Ill., where they loved living in the house on the lake. Ken and Dorothy enjoyed camping, fish fries, Cardinals football and baseball, bowling, swing dancing, living life to the fullest, and their Christian faith was an important part of their lives together.

Dorothy had a long and rewarding career with the former Boatmen’s Bank as a loan officer, retiring in 1996. She enjoyed Sunday school, Church services, embroidery, reading, attending the Millstadt Senior Center, her Grandchildren, and travelling to Florida and Branson.

She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth A. Edmondson; granddaughter Victoria Wolken, nee Edmondson; and poodle Binky.

Survivors include her son Kenneth G. (Christine) Edmondson, and daughter Debbie Norris; grandchildren Max, Sam, Christina, and Levi Edmondson, and Philip and Alex Norris; and sisters Peggy (George) Mokriakow and Sandy (Jim) Quain.

Memorial donations are suggested to Millstadt Senior Center.

The family will receive friends 4-6 pm, Tuesday, March 22, 2022 at Hoffen Funeral Home, Millstadt, and a funeral service will follow at 6 pm, Tuesday, at the funeral home. A graveside service will be at 1 pm, Thursday, March 24, 2022 at Mound City National Cemetery, Mound City, Illinois.
