Doris Jean Mcintosh

Doris Jean McIntosh, nee Deatherege, 88, of Millstadt, IL passed away peacefully on Sunday November 13, 2022. Doris was born on September 11, 1934, in East St. Louis, IL to Edward and Mabel Deatherege, nee Merritt, and they precede her in death.

Doris lived most of her life in East St. Louis on “the island” and in her later years, moved to Millstadt. In her working years, she was a cook who enjoyed sharing good food with others. She was a wonderfully kind lady who always had a smile for anyone she met. On nice days, she could often be found spending time in the warm morning sun in her rocking chair on her porch, with a beloved cat on her lap. She loved cats and dogs and had a soft spot for caring for and feeding stray cats. In her free time, she enjoyed spending time with her friends, family and neighbors. Doris will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Left to cherish her memory is her brother, James (Kimberly) Deatherege of Sarasota, FL, and her nephews; John (Kimberly) Niederer of Belleville, IL and Michael (Susan) Niederer of Mascoutah, IL and her dear neighbor and friend Roxanne.

Per her wishes, she was cremated, and no services are planned. Doris requested that her ashes be spread upon “the island” in East St. Louis where she lived for most of her life.
