David Lynn Newell

David Lynn Newell of Freeburg, Illinois passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at his home, having attained the age of 59 years, 7 months and 5 days.

Born in St. Louis, Missouri on August 5, 1955, he was the son of Robert Leroy Newell and Kathleen Rhodes, nee Boothman. He was united in marriage to Judith Black on November 25, 1981 in Belleville, Illinois.

Mr. Newell was a chef and a United States Army Veteran.
Preceding him in death were his father, Robert Leroy Newell, his grandparents and his mother and father-in-law, Melvin and Patsy Hurd.

Surviving are his wife, Judith Newell of Freeburg, Illinois; his children, David (Wendy) Newell of Land of Lakes, Florida and Shannon McNamara of North Carolina; his mother, Kathleen Rhodes; his sisters, Melissa of Virginia, Regina Roodhouse and Diana Duke, both of California; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Edgar (Barb) Bates, Earl (Diane) Black and Melinda (David) Sevor; his grandchildren, Andrew McNamara, Kristian McNamara, Trinity Newell, Isabelle Newell, Elizabeth Grimes and Aiden Grimes; his special nieces, Chaleigh and Madison, that he loved as his own; his beloved nieces and nephews and his faithful companion, Brutus.

Private graveside services will be held at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, Missouri.
