Columbia Delong

Columbia Delong, 87, of Millstadt, IL, passed away on Wednesday January 26, 2022 in Belleville, IL. Born on January 31, 1934 in Kermit, WV, she was the daughter of Julius and Eula Collins, nee Messer and they precede her in death. Columbia was also preceded in death by her husband, Jack Delong, her daughter, Sharon Delong and her sisters; Helen Lusher, Gladys Badnell, Arizona Stischok and Barbara Collins.

Columbia married her husband, Jack Delong in 1954 in Ohio. Columbia and Jack raised 3 daughters and an adopted son. During her working years, she was employed by Hancock Elementary School in St. Louis, MO as a cook and crossing guard. In her spare time, Columbia enjoyed crocheting, quilting and working puzzles. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. She took care of everyone and had a huge, loving heart. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Left to cherish her memory are her children; Rosa Nemec of Doniphan, MO, Karen (David) Monterusso of Millstadt, IL and Jack Delong, Jr. of Ohio, her grandchildren; Nicole O’Bryan, Ashley O’Bryan, Amanda (Henry) Birkner, Stacy Nemec, Lisa Nemec, Tori (Robert) Hensley and Julio Nemec; her great-grandchildren; Landyn Brown, Aubrey Brown, Amber Nemec and Emanuel Nemec in addition to extended family and many beloved friends.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday February 15, 2022 from 4pm-6pm and memorial service at 6pm with Rev. Larry Ridenour, officiating.
