Clarence Allan Chaput
Clarence Allan Chaput of Millstadt, Illinois passed away on Tuesday, November 18, 2008 at his home at the age of 78 years, 7 months and 17 days.
Born in Belleville, Illinois on April 1, 1930, he was the son of Clarence J. and Florence (Morrisey) Chaput. He married Doris Korte on September 14, 1957 and she survives his passing.
Mr. Chaput was a photographer for the Belleville News Democrat for 25 years. He served in the United States Army and was a member of St. James Catholic Church, St. James Over 50 Club, a 50 year member of Knights of Columbus Council 1028, Gateway Garden Railroad Club, Bluegrass Railroad Museum and Millstadt Post of the American Legion.
Preceding him in death besides his parents was a son-in-law, Rick Hren.
Survivors beside his wife, Doris, include his children, David (Charlotte) Chaput of Smithton, Diane Hren of Fort Wayne, Indiana and Cathy Chaput of Freeburg; one brother, Robert (Doris) Chaput of Herriman, Utah; three grandchildren, Becky (Tim) Claxton of OFallon, Matthew Chaput of Smithton and Joshua Hren of Fort Wayne, Indiana; one great-grandson, Hadley Hren of Fort Wayne, Indiana, numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and many friends.
Friends may call on Friday, November 21, 2008 from 3:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Creason Funeral Home. Recitation of the rosary will be held at 4:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
A mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2008 at 10:00 A.M. at St. James Catholic Church in Millstadt with Father Marvin Volk officiating. Interment will follow at Green Mount Cemetery in Belleville with full military honors.
Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or Southern Illinois Hospice and will be received at the funeral home.
