Charles Dewey Pruitt of Millstadt, Illinois passed away on Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at Memorial Hospital in Belleville having attained the age of 86 years, 2 months and 23 days.
Born in Cushing, Oklahoma on September 1, 1923, he was the son of Charles Howard and Bertha Mae (Ferguson) Pruitt. He married Melba Louise White on December 20, 1947 at the Methodist Church in Carbondale, Illinois.

Mr. Pruitt was a profession of Physics at Belleville Area College (Southwestern Illinois College) for 42 years. He earned two masters degrees, one in education and the other in physics and earned 30 hours towards his PHD. He was a veteran of the United States Army Signal Corp serving during World War II.

Preceding him in death besides his parents were a brother, Jackie Ray Pruitt in 2007.

Surviving are his wife, Melba Pruitt; his children, Charles Dean (Natalya) Pruitt of Millstadt, Rebecca Jo (Sandy) Breadbenner of Holmdel, New Jersey and Douglas Eric (Pamela) Pruitt of Belleville; his grandchildren, Charles Adrian Pruitt, Dewey Vladimir Pruitt, Yekatrina Louise Pruitt, Michael Harry Smalls and John Smalls, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
Friends may call on Thursday, December 3, 2009 from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the Creason Funeral Home in Millstadt.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 3, 2009 at 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Interment will be private.
