Carl C. Werner

Carl C. Werner, 82, of Millstadt, IL, passed away at Oak Hill Nursing Center in Waterloo, IL on Monday October 3, 2022. Carl was born on October 30, 1939, in Belleville, IL to Alfred and Florence Werner, nee Mueller, and they precede him in death. Carl was also preceded in death by his dear wife, Gertrude Werner, nee Coleman, his sister, Corine Englerth and his stepson, Bryan Madden.

Carl owned and operated his contracting business, Carl Werner Construction for many years and was known for his hard work and conscientiousness in his craftmanship. In his spare time, he enjoyed being outdoors, especially spending time at his son, Curt’s house at the lake and studying airplanes and watching documentaries. Most of all, Carl loved spending time with his family and will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Left to cherish his memory is his son, Curt (Nancy Blackard) Werner, his daughter, Carla Werner, his stepsons Leon Madden (Val) and Walter (Sue) Madden; his brothers, Louis Werner, Les Werner and Dave Werner, his several beloved grandchildren and several beloved great-grandchildren, in addition to extended family and many beloved friends.

A celebration of Carl’s life will be held on Sunday October 16, 2022 from 1:00pm-5:00pm at the Catholic War Veterans Hall, 3535 S. Route 159 Freeburg, IL.. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or www.stjude.org.
