Betty Joann Steffen, 68, of St. Louis, died Tuesday, May 27, 2008 at her home.

Born July 20, 1939 in St. Clair, Missouri, she was the daughter of Vernon and Thelma (McCain) Schmuke.

She was a member of St. Lukes Lutheran Church and was a florist.

Mrs. Steffen was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Michael Steffen.

Surviving her passing are her children, Ronald 'Ron' Langendorf of St. Louis, Karen Fonke of St. Clair, Missouri, Krista (Gaetano) Piazza of St. Louis County and Robert Steffen of St. Louis; one brother, Jon (Joann) Schmuke of Ballwin, Missouri; three grandchildren, Dawn (Chad) Burns, David Fonke and Bianca Piazza and two great-grandchildren, Brianna Burns and Caden Burns.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2008 at Southern Funeral Home, 6322 South Grand Boulevard at 10:00 A.M. with Rev. Lawrence Etherton officiating. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.

Friends may call on Friday, May 30, 2008 from 3:00 to 8:00 P.M. Memorials may be made to the Humane Society.
