Barbara Jean Basham

Barbara Jean Basham, nee Mayberry, 69, of Belleville, IL passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on September 13, 2023. Barbara was born on November 19, 1953, in Belleville, IL to Chelcie and Angelina (Botelho) Mayberry and they precede her in death. She was also preceded in death by her brother Chelcie Lee Mayberry and her brother-in-law James Anderson.

Barbara’s greatest joy in life was her family. She loved cooking and is fondly remembered for always making way too much. Holidays, especially Christmas, were important to Barbara because it meant spending time with her beloved children and grandchildren. She also loved her time shopping with her dear sister Margaret. When it was time to relax, Barbara enjoyed watching old TV shows and movies, most recently watching John Wayne films with her granddaughter Shelby. She will be remembered as a devoted mother, sister, grandmother and dear friend to many.

Left to cherish her memory are her children: Heather Mowen, Kelly (Jim) Ott and Barry (Jamie Foeller) Basham II; her siblings: Wanda Trassati, Margaret Anderson, Mildred Sellers and Linda (Jim) Loesche; and her grandchildren Shelby Basham, Chase Mowen, Violet Theis, Nova Basham and Ashley Carter in addition to extended family and many beloved friends.
