Shirle Dean Sadowski

August 15, 1936 — March 23, 2024

Shirle Dean Sadowski, nee Payton, 87, of O’Fallon, IL passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday March 23, 2024. She was born on August 15, 1936, in Murphysboro, IL. Shirle was preceded in death by her parents John and Lillian Chaney, her husband Stanley Sadowski, her daughter Sherree Schneider and her siblings: Rexford Chaney and Mildred Leier.

Shirle married her husband Stanley on October 13, 1961, in Alamogordo, NM and they enjoyed many years of marriage until his passing. Shirle was a devoted mother, raising her two daughters while working as an interior decorator and later as the catering manager at Scott Air Force Base NCO Club until her retirement in 2001. An avid collector, she enjoyed hunting for treasures, especially collecting teddy bears. Shirle turned her treasure hunting hobby into a business and sold antiques and collectibles at the Belle-Clair Fairgrounds Flea Market for 31 years.

In her spare time, she loved playing bingo and scrapbooking. When Christmas came around each year, Shirle was known for her extensive Christmas village that she painstakingly assembled under her tree. Her village display was so amazing that it was featured in the Belleville News Democrat. Shirle will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and dear friend of many.

Left to cherish her memory is her daughter Susan (Timothy) Hoogerwerf, her grandson Khristopher (Kari) Hoogerwerf and her great-granddaughter Shay Hoogerwerf, in addition to many nieces, nephews, extended family and beloved friends.

Per her wishes, cremation has taken place, and her ashes will be taken to her preferred final resting place, El Paso, TX.

Celebration of life will be held on Saturday April 20, 2024 from 1:00pm-4:00pm at the Quail Club 8303 Concordia Church Rd Belleville, IL 62223
